Getting Around

Verified

How we verify data

Getting around Bimini is one of the simplest logistical questions in the Bahamas, because the island is small enough that there is almost nothing to figure out.

Golf Carts

North Bimini has no cars. Golf carts are the universal mode of transport on the island, used by residents, resort guests, and visitors alike. The King's Highway, the single road running the length of North Bimini, connects Alice Town in the south with the quieter north end of the island. The full length of the island can be driven in under 20 minutes.

Golf carts are available to rent from a handful of vendors in Alice Town and through Resorts World Bimini for its guests. Daily and hourly rates apply. Reserve in advance during busy periods, as the total number of carts on the island is limited.

Walking

Much of Alice Town is walkable. The strip of restaurants, bars, and dive shops along the King's Highway is compact, and most visitors on foot do not need to cover more than a quarter-mile in either direction from the main marina area.

Water Taxis

North Bimini and South Bimini are separate islands. A short water taxi ride connects them, taking under 5 minutes. The water taxi is the only way to reach South Bimini Airport, the South Bimini shark dive operation, and the quieter residential areas on the southern island. Service is available on demand during daylight hours.

Boat Transport

For reaching offshore fishing grounds, dive sites, and the outer cays, you'll need a boat. Charter fishing vessels, dive boats, and skiff rentals are available through operators in Alice Town and through Resorts World Bimini's marina. The Bimini Road dive site and the shark dives off South Bimini require a boat.

Practical Notes

  • There are no traffic lights, no major intersections, and essentially no navigation required on North Bimini.
  • Golf cart rental rates vary; confirm before committing.
  • The water between North and South Bimini has boat traffic, the water taxi crossing is short but can be choppy in wind.
Prices and availability change frequently. Verify before booking.
