Bimini is not a budget destination. Its proximity to Florida and its small size create a cost structure that trends expensive relative to what you get. Everything is imported, staff options are limited, and the island has not developed the price competition that comes with volume tourism. Plan accordingly.

Where the Money Goes
Getting there is the first significant cost for most visitors. The ferry from Fort Lauderdale is reasonable; charter flights are not. Visitors arriving by private boat often find that fuel, marina fees, and customs fees add up to more than a comparable flight-and-hotel trip.
Accommodation is the largest ongoing cost. There is no budget tier equivalent to Nassau's guesthouses or the Exumas' more affordable rental cottages. The Resorts World property sets the price floor for quality accommodation.
Food and drink costs more than on the mainland or in Nassau because of import logistics. A meal that would cost $15 in Nassau can cost $30 in Bimini. Drinking at the local bars rather than resort bars is the main lever for reducing food and beverage spend.
Activities, fishing charters in particular, are premium priced. This is a legitimate deep-sea sportfishing destination, and the boats and captains reflect that. Budget dive trips are slightly more accessible.
Who Gets Value Here
Bimini offers strong value for:
- Anglers who know what world-class blue marlin and bonefishing access is worth and are comparing against other destinations at the same level.
- Florida boaters who own a suitable vessel, the actual out-of-pocket cost of a Bimini trip by private boat is modest once you have the hardware.
- Divers seeking the Bimini Road and shark dives at rates below what you'd pay in the Maldives or the Red Sea for comparable experiences.
Bimini does not offer value for visitors primarily seeking beaches and relaxation. Better beaches exist on other Bahamas islands for comparable or lower cost.
Money
The Bahamian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. US dollars are accepted everywhere on the island. Credit cards are accepted at Resorts World and most established businesses; smaller vendors and bars are cash-preferred. There is no ATM on the island, bring cash from the mainland.
